Roger is taking a trip soon because his daughter is graduating from Florida Gulf Coast University...and he needs a few new comfortable shirts. I think This batik fabric and vintage Vogue Pattern #9366, make a very fashionable match!
In case you are wondering...no...I will not be making him a pair of short-shorts as shown on the pattern envelope, LOL ! Something for which I am sure his daughter will be grateful ;)
However, I will be writing a tutorial soon about how to professionally handle sleeve cap ease specifically on shirt sleeves after they have been set (sewn)...so stay tuned.

ReplyDeleteNice! My fiance loves batiks, too, so I've made similar shirts for him as well (although with a more recent pattern). Plus, we get to keep the scraps! Great if you're a quilter as well... :)
ReplyDeleteI am certain DH would LOVE a shirt like this! As stated before, it is tropical w/o screaming tropics, very understated from what one would normally see and thats my kind of shirt! I think khaki shorts would look great w/ them,but * not* as short as on the envelope cover !LOL!

Beautiful colors in this shirt fabric. It looks cool and refreshing which is just what he'll need at FGCU...it's hot here right now. He must be so proud of his daughter!

ReplyDeleteYes Jane, we are both so proud of Cortney...who is graduating with honors! She will have a Criminal Justice Degree, and going straight into the Police Academy...with a position with a local Police Dept waiting for her when she completes the Academy.
I wish I could be there, but it is too soon for me to travel after my recent surgery :(
Beautiful! The fabric is just right; tropical yet not silly. The buttons are the perfect designer touch as well. I imagine Roger is quite thrilled.
